Ipsos, a global market research and consulting firm, sought to address a critical challenge: minimising employee turnover due to relocation. To achieve this, Ipsos collaborated with DB&B to create an office space that not only aligned with current design trends but also resonated deeply with their core values of individuality, diversity, and creativity.
Design Vision
At the heart of the Ipsos office design was the belief that ‘people’ are the most important amenities in the workplace. The design was crafted to foster social networks, interconnectedness, and support the health and well-being of employees. This approach ensured that the new office environment would be a place where employees felt engaged, connected, and inspired.
Cultural Integration
Reflecting Ipsos’ culture, the design broke traditional frameworks, incorporating unique decorative structures representative of Shanghai. These elements were not just aesthetic choices but were deeply intertwined with Ipsos’ corporate culture. Each design decision, from the shapes used to the overall concept, was made to reinforce the company’s identity and values.
Green Wall Integration
To enhance the sense of engagement and connection within the workplace, a biophilic “green wall” was integrated into the office space. This feature, composed of Ipsos’ corporate colors, guided employees and visitors from the entrance to the back of the office. The green wall not only added a vibrant touch to the environment but also fostered a deeper sense of identity and belonging among employees.
Cohesive Design Elements
Every aspect of the office design was meticulously planned to reflect Ipsos’ brand. The choice of furniture, acoustic panels, carpets, and wall colors were all aligned with the company’s features. The carpets, in particular, served a dual purpose: they acted as wayfinding elements and represented the designated work areas for different departments, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Multifaceted Seminar Rooms
A standout feature of the new office design was the creation of four unique seminar rooms, each with a distinct style. These rooms were designed to cater to a diverse range of visitors and customers, ensuring that every interaction within the space was memorable and aligned with Ipsos’ commitment to diversity and creativity.
Overcoming Challenges
The project was not without its challenges. In 2022, amid the global pandemic, our design team collaborated with Ipsos entirely online. Despite the limitations, we successfully completed the overall scheme design through virtual communication and teamwork.
Conclusion
The new Ipsos office is a testament to the power of thoughtful, culture-driven design. By prioritising the well-being and interconnectedness of employees, the space not only mitigates the impact of relocation but also enhances overall employee satisfaction and productivity. The integration of unique cultural elements, diverse seminar rooms, and cohesive design choices ensures that the office is not just a workplace, but a vibrant community reflecting the core values of Ipsos.
